Can’t Steal Our Vibe is a documentary film born from a global collaboration between Vans, the Positive Vibe Warriors Foundation, and surf communities around the world.
The project set out with a simple but powerful mission: to share the joy of surfing and give back to the next generation.
Through an ambitious surfboard drive spanning the U.S., the team collected over 750 surfboards, leashes, and fins, which were shipped to Cape Town, South Africa, and distributed to youth in coastal communities across Mozambique, Somalia, and Liberia through the nonprofit Waves for Change.
The film chronicles this journey, from board collections in California to the vibrant surf culture emerging in African townships—celebrating the resilience, unity, and creativity of the people redefining what it means to surf.
Awards & Recognitions
Can’t Steal Our Vibe premiered at the San Luis Obispo International Film Festival, was an official selection at the Newport Beach Film Festival, and won the Audience Award at the MIMPI Film Festival.
